Updated: Sep 11, 2023

Meet Marissa! Marissa is a Project Manager with Brilliant Muse, working on Google projects focused on business operations. She loves building processes and solving problems. Learn more about Marissa outside of work & what brought her to Brilliant Muse!

What industry do you come from before working at Brilliant Muse?

I spent 7 years in the pharmaceutical/health care industry in various digital marketing-focused roles, both agency and internal.

What was your first job?

First job ever? Ice Cream Scooper at a local dairy farm in my hometown! First job out of college? Marketing Specialist at a small startup agency in Philadelphia.

What city do you live in? What do you like most about it?

I live in Philadelphia, and I strongly believe it is the greatest city on Earth! I might be biased, but there’s just something about the Philly spirit that is so inspiring - full of passion and grit. I know we get a bad rep from our sports fans, but honestly, there is nothing like that camaraderie. When we’re down, we’re down together, and when we’re on a roll, there really is so much energy throughout this place it’s hard to describe. Aside from that, Philly is totally a foodie city! I’ve lived here almost 12 years, and I don’t know if I’ll ever make it through my list of places to eat at.

What attracted you to Brilliant Muse? Why did you choose Brilliant Muse?

I’ve grown fond of remote work since the start of the pandemic. While some people struggled with that lack of human, in-person connection, I felt that it really allowed me to thrive. I was able to make time for myself, my family, and my passions in a way that I was struggling to balance while going into the office everyday - always making trade offs with the amount of pre- and post-work time that I had left work. So, I knew when it was time for a change that remote work was one of my top priorities. I heard about Brilliant Muse through a friend that has been a Muser for over a year now, and when she knew I was looking for a new opportunity she mentioned how great Michelle is and how much she loves her current work/life balance and flexibility that consulting has provided her. I could immediately tell by the passion in her voice that it was somewhere I was meant to be! (And now with being here for a while myself, I can say she didn’t steer me wrong. Thanks, Jessie!)

What do you like most about working with Brilliant Muse?

So many things, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the people. Since Day 1 of interviewing through coming on full time, everyone I have met here (Michelle included) has been so warm and welcoming. Even though we are all remote, and we are all working on different projects, there is still such a sense of community and willingness to support and help each other - it’s truly inspiring!

What do you like to do outside of work? What are some hobbies, activities you are able to do because of remote work / flexible schedule?

Outside of work, you can find me at home watching Food Network, out on the town enjoying Philly’s awesome food scene, or back at home perfecting my gluten free baking skills. And to balance all of that out, I love riding my Peloton, going for a run or a hike, and taking yoga classes at my local studio. Remote work and a flexible schedule has helped me re-prioritize my fitness, and I’ll even be starting Yoga Teacher Training this fall!
